Health Department Permit Information
All short-term rentals will require an annual health permit, per the West Virginia General Sanitation Rule. The Pocahontas County Health Department is the entity responsible for this. Permits will be issued on an annual basis, valid July 1 - July 31.
Owners will be required to submit an application (1 per property) to Health Department, with a non-refundable $125.00 fee. Once reviewed, the Health Department will coordinate with Snowshoe Owner Services to complete the inspections on any units within our rental program. Once inspected, the owner and Snowshoe Owner Services will receive a copy of the health permit to file and display according to their standards.
We will maintain a record of permits. Proof of valid health permit is required to remain eligible and open for reservations. Please note that change of ownership or major remodels will require a new application and permit.
This is a state regulation that applies to all short-term rentals. This is not a Snowshoe policy. We are working in partnership with the Pocahontas County Health Department to ensure compliance. 2. Send application to ashley.d.sharp@wv.gov and copy ownerservices@snowshoemountain.com by July 1, 2023.
3. Submit payment of $125.00 per property to the Health Department. Online payment options are available.
4. Snowshoe Owner Services will coordinate with Pocahontas County Health Department on inspections.
5. Pocahontas County Health Department will send copies of permits to owner & Snowshoe Owner Services.
6. Snowshoe will file & display health permit on behalf of the owner.
If you are an owner outside of Snowshoe's rental program, you will need to consult your property management company or contact the Health Department directly.
