Ski and Snowboard Race Team

The mission of the Snowshoe Mountain Ski and Snowboard Race and Developmental programs is to provide the most safe, professional and fun competitive experiences again and again.  Through the Race Department, Snowshoe offers two different junior programs, one for ski racing and one for terrain park development. 

The price for either team programs listed below is $750 plus tax if registered prior to December 1, 2007.  The price is $775 plus tax if registered after December 1, 2007.

Freeride Team

The Snowshoe Freeride Team is all about building the futures of competitive athletes in the areas of both ski and snowboard park and pipe competition. A relatively new program for Snowshoe, this program will focus on direct coaching with aspiring junior athletes in the many disciplines held in today's terrain park competitions. Coaches will work with your junior athlete to help him/her reach their future potential and goals. This program also provides great opportunities to learn how to utilize terrain park facilities safely, develop personal skill, connect with industry icons, and create relationships with many peers all while pursuing like goals. To help reach their goals we will utilize resources such as: a regionally recognized terrain park facility at both Snowshoe and Silver Creek areas, expert training and guidance, and detailed video analysis. The team meets Saturdays, Sundays and holiday periods with two sessions daily, 9:15am - 12pm and 1pm - 3pm (lunch not included). Our season starts in mid-December and continues through early March.  All athletes ages 7-19 are welcome to apply (Athletes age is determined by how old they are on December 31st.).


Program includes:

1.  One minimum traveling coach to 7 conference events
2.  Three dedicated coaches, part time coaches available when needed
3.  Season Pass for 07/08 season
4.  All training and related equipment, coaching and camps on schedule
5.  Video analysis of each athlete
6.  Equipment guidance and support
7.  Uniforms are also available for purchase

Requirements: 
1.  Certified helmet which covers ears
2.  Approved skis, bindings and boots at the discretion of Head Coach
3.  Must also be able to mount chairlift unassisted
4.  Must join parent association

Recommendations
1.  USSA regional snowboard membership
2.  USASA membership
3.  Recommended to have at least one full season of experience, competent in riding both regular and switch, and is comfortable on all levels of terrrain.

Junior Ski Race Team

The Snowshoe Junior Alpine Race Team is all about building the future of competitive athletes in skiing.  Through intense coaching, gate training and movement analysis, Snowshoe racers develop into some of the most competitive skiers in the Southeast.  Many of our athletes go on to compete in numerous post season events such as Eastern Finals and Junior Olympics; some graduating to collegiate, FIS and Master's competition.  The team primarily focuses on local and regional races, competing in the SARA conference.  All parents and athletes of the junior ski team must join the Snowshoe Ski Team Parent association which provides a structured avenue for communication, event planning and fundraising.  The team meets Saturdays, Sundays and Holiday periods with with two sessions daily, 9:15am - 12pm and 1pm - 3pm.  Our season starts in mid-December and continues through early March with our major camp taking place on December 26 - 31.  All athletes ages 7 - 19 are welcome to apply (athlete age is determined by how old they are on December 31). 

Program includes:

Parent involvement, as with any sport, is a key element to this programs success. It is highly encouraged that all parents become involved with the parent association, events, and racing community.
