Snow News is Good News

Snow News is Good News is a weekly update provided by Laura Parquette, Communication Manager at Snowshoe Mountain.

It's hard to believe that we're now just days away from March. While there have been some long stretches in there, as a whole this season has absolutely flown by.

Mother Nature really can't seem to make up her mind when it comes to weather conditions this winter. After another brief mild spell, temperatures are expected to drop throughout the day today, with drizzle turning over to snow and a winter storm expected to drop up to half a foot of snow on the mountain in the next several days.

Well, it hasn't felt much like winter these past few days, but that should change in the next 12 hours or so. Temperatures are expected to drop throughout the day today, and snowmaking may be able to restart overnight tonight, as lows should dip below 30 degrees.

Snow, snow, snow…it seems every time you glance outside, more of that beautiful white stuff is falling from the sky this month. Last week we had a total of just about 8", and the last two weeks have provided about 31" of fresh powder, bringing our total for the month of January to over 40".

We've got the most open terrain with more on the way.  Best of all, natural snowfall is helping us open new slopes fast!

Another Christmas come and gone...

It looks (and feels) like winter has decided to stick around for a while. After a final accumulation of 16" of snow last week, we had some of the season's best conditions for the long weekends.

Once again, Snowshoe gets hit with a storm, dropping 8" of pow on the mountain!

Snowshoe had an epic week with 17" of snow dropping on the resort!

Happy New Year Everyone! Snowshoe has started out 2008 the best way possible, a gorgeous powder day! More than 11" of fresh powder have fallen on the slopes since New Year's Day!

Winter weather has returned to Snowshoe (finally)! By 8am on Monday, two inches of fresh powder already coated the slopes, and plenty more is on the way.

The 07-08 winter season is officially here. The Thanksgiving Turkey and Snowshoe Hare dropped the rope at the top of Heisler Way on Snowshoe's 34th season of skiing and riding on Wednesday, November 21, 2007.

We've had a fairly cold October on top of the mountain, and the last few nights temps have been below freezing with heavy frost lingering into the mid-morning hours. That means we're just days, yes DAYS away from beginning snowmaking operations.
