Now this is a pattern I could get used to. It's Monday morning and once again we have fresh snow on the ground, more snow falling from the sky and even more of the white stuff being pumped out by our snow guns. Just about 4" of natural snow fell over night Saturday, and snow continues to fall lightly as we head into Monday afternoon. And the best news is that our forecast through Opening Day on the 26th is just about as good as it gets. We have snow predicted for the next several days, with conservative estimates from the National Weather Service calling for up to 10". Other outlets are saying that as much as 17" could fall in the next few days. In addition to the snow, it looks like it will be very, very cold on the mountain at least through the weekend. With overnight temps falling to near single digits, we should be able to make piles and piles of snow across the mountain.

Opening Day is just more than a week away, and it's time to get excited for some of the best early-season conditions in recent memory. We're planning on having 10 slopes and about 39 acres of terrain open on the 26th. Right now we're in great shape for that with 105 snow guns hard at work across the mountain. We already have about 32 acres with great coverage and the long-term forecast looks like we should be able to make snow right up through opening day. We've heard all fall that signs point to a great winter and that seems to be coming true during this early season period. So far Snowshoe has already received more than a foot of natural snow, and it looks like we might be able to double that this week. We have an aggressive slope opening plan in place, and if Mother Nature continues to cooperate we could be 100% in the Snowshoe Basin area by Christmas, and have all of our slopes in our three areas (basin, Silver Creek and Western Territory) open just after the New Year.

Think Snow and hopefully we'll see you on the mountain before long!
