How Do We Play It Safe On The Slopes?

The easiest way to ruin any vacation is with an injury, but with some planning and a few helpful tips, skiing and snowboarding can be enjoyed as safely as possible.  When enjoying our slopes please make sure you follow the tips below.

  • Stay Fit.  All outdoor winter activities require lots of energy - not only to perform the activity, but also to keep warm. Before and during all winter sports, be sure to eat hearty meals and drink plenty of fluids. Avoid drinks with caffeine as they will dehydrate your muscles. Never drink alcohol while participating in snow sports as it makes your muscles and reactions much less responsive.
  • Follow the Skier's Responsibility Code.  Please click here for the complete skier's responsibility code.
  • Headed for the Terrain Park?  Click here for complete Terrain Park safety guidelines.
  • We recommend wearing a helmet.  Helmets will be required for all children ages 12 and under enrolled in ski/snowboard lessons, and for all guests participating in terrain park lessons.
  • Should you have some trouble, Snowshoe's Patrol is here to help you.  Ski Patrol is located on the lower level of the Shavers Center. Ski Patrol also has locations slope side at Silver Creek and at the top of the Western Territory. If you need assistance, please ask any staff member and we'll find a member of our Patrol to help you.
