Governor Awards Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Grants
Governor Joe Manchin has awarded $1,833,094 in Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grants (SPF SIG) funds for 18 projects statewide. These funds help implement local prevention efforts or help to continue local prevention planning efforts or help to continue local prevention planning efforts, associated with the SPF SIG program.
The SPF SIG program enhances West Virginia's efforts to build a strategic framework for state, regional and community prevention partnerships to better coordinate alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention funding. These funds will also improve the overall quality of prevention programs and the state's prevention workforce and increase the availability of prevention services.
SPF SIG program funds are awarded for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Substance Abuse and mental Health Services Administration. The Programmatic Administrative Agent for these funds is the West Virginia Prevention Resource Center. The Fiscal Administrative Agent for these funds in the West Virginia Division of Criminal Justice Services. The Snowshoe Foundation was awarded a grant in the amount of $89,200.00.

The Snowshoe Foundation is dedicated to the financial support of local community organizations whose activities provide benefit to the people of Pocahontas, Randolph and Webster Counties of West Virginia. These counties are the residences of the majority of our employees at Snowshoe Mountain. As a caring foundation, we will seek to enhance the quality of like of the residents of our region while making our mountain community a better place to live.
The Foundation plans to organize at least two major fundraising events each year, one in the winter and one in the summer. These events, among other initiatives throughout the year, will provide for fundraising to support a variety of community endeavors. Applications for funds must be submitted by organizations or individuals in the community and will be evaluated as to their merit by the foundation allocation committee.
Our Mandate
The Mission of the Snowshoe Foundation is to seek to enhance the quality of life in our local communities through assisting local organizations and / or individuals in areas of health, human services, education, recreation, the arts, culture and the environment, with an emphasis on children, youth and family programs.
Foundation Board of Directors
The Snowshoe Foundation's Board of Directors consists of a number of area volunteer, all of whom are very active in both the Snowshoe and local community. Current Board of Director members include: Bill Rock, Brian Ball, Randall Sehn, Voras Haynes, Frank Santmyer, Stephanie Dilley and Randy Sharp. The Executive Director of the Foundation is Coby Brown.
